sleep drawings

Ink and watercolor drawings, some are cut and rearranged.  These are worked from daily activity charts, nightly sleep data and from the bumpy wood pieces themselves.  The drawings are a way to take the proportions of time in waking and sleeping and make the pattern more directly apparent.

“Reorganized Time Slices” 16 in x 20 in, cut paper, watercolor, ink on cradled hardpanel. Based on a month of daily activities reorganized by type (sleep, eating, online, etc). 2011

“Pokey Red”, 12 in x 12 in, cut paper, watercolor and ink. Based on a month of sleep data, with the light sleep (aka trash sleep) periods folded up out of the way, and only deep, REM and awake periods remain. 2011
