In a normal year 1 in 6 kids experience food insecurity, during the pandemic it doubled. It’s not just about nutrition. The effects on children are surprising. Obesity (yes, obesity because they get poor nutrition with dead calories), health problems like more frequent colds, diarrhea, asthma, allergies. Learning problems, repeating a grade, ADHD and more emotional issues - stealing, depression, aggression than kids of similar economic status who are food secure.
